Hello. My name is Angela Thomas and I am asking for your vote in November for Missouri State Representative for the 160th District.

About me:

I come from a long line of hard working, patriotic Americans with a deep commitment to serving their country and community. My father’s father was an iron worker and dairy farmer, and my father had a proud twenty-year career in the United States Air Force before becoming a postal worker and cattle rancher.

My mother’s father was a McDonald County Commissioner and raised coon dogs, broiler chickens, and strawberries. He and my grandmother founded the New Bethel Church of which I am still a member. Grandpa started the New Bethel Quartet, which later became the New Bethel Singers. My mother has owned and operated Thomas Accounting and Tax Services in Neosho for the past 33 years.

I graduated from McDonald County High School as Salutatorian, earned an associates degree from Crowder College, and completed additional coursework from Missouri Southern in Education.  Because my family moved regularly when my father was in the service, I had the opportunity to attend both public and private schools and have an appreciation for both. After sixteen years with New-Mac Electric, I pursued my entrepreneurial interests and created my own business, Angela’s Salon and Day Spa, which I have operated for fifteen years.

As part of my public service, I served for two years as president of the Neosho Chamber of Commerce, as youth leader for the New Bethel Church, and as a member of Soroptimists International and P.E.O.  My family has had personal experience with one of the greatest challenges currently facing our state and nation, substance abuse, and with the difficulties of finding accessible and effective treatment programs. I know how this problem impacts families and communities and am better prepared than most to address it.

I am running for State Representative because I believe that my faith, views, and values represent the majority of men and women in the 160th District. I am confident that I can represent those views in the legislature with conviction, courage, and results.

I am encouraged by knowing that you will expect me to serve as a forceful, independent voice for our region in the legislature. I will listen to your concerns with care, and I will represent you with strength and integrity.
